- DApp is a utility which lets you use DA's that aren't in the
- System file. It probably is only useful under MultiFinder
- (Juggler). With DApp, you can encase a DA (up to five) in an
- application. Double-clicking on the application will open the DAs.
-
- How to use it: First, make a copy of DApp and name it whatever you
- want. Then, run the Font/DA mover. Open the DA in the left-hand
- box and open the copy of DApp in the right hand box. To open DApp
- on the right side, Hold option and clock on the Open... button under
- the DA box. All files will show up in the Standard Get File Dialog.
- Select the copy of DApp the way you normally select a DA file. Then
- copy the DAs into the copy of DApp.
-
- After quitting, double-click the copy of DApp and your DA will be
- opened automatically, ready to use.
-
- If you are running under switcher or MultiFinder (Juggler), you will
- probably want to adjust the memory requirements of DApp. The
- default is 32K, this is sufficient for most DAs. However, many DAs
- do not need that much or need more. To adjust the size under
- Switcher, click on an empty Application space and pick 'Configure
- then install...' from the menus (I forgot which). Change the
- required and suggested memory amounts and click 'permanent'. Under
- MultiFinder, click on the copy of DApp (in the Finder) and pick
- 'Get Info' from the File menu. Change the value in the 'Application
- memory size' box and close the get info window. (If the box isn't
- there, either that copy of DApp is already open and running on the
- desktop, or you are not in MultiFinder mode. To enter MultiFinder
- mode, Select 'Set Startup' from the Special menu and Click on
- 'Multifinder' and reboot.)
-
- Amount of memory is tough to gauge, except by trial and error.
- Using the 'Show memory usage' in Switcher and the 'About Finder'
- box in MultiFinder can help.
-
- I fixed the 'goodbye kiss' problem in MultiFinder, I was using bad
- Device Driver reference numbers. However, in MultiFinder it is not
- acceptable to not give a 'goodbye kiss' to any DAs that are
- contained in your Application.
-
- Picking other DAs that are under the Apple Menu seems to be OK,
- SysDAHandler takes over for those. I'm just not sure yet... I
- still switch to finder before picking them.
-
- You can now put up to 5 DAs in DApp. More will work but they won't
- open for you. AND YOU MUST CLOSE THEM BEFORE QUITTING.
-
- Known bugs:
- DApp doesn't work with Set Paths DA, I think it has to do with it
- being a modal dialog box. Might want to stay away from all DAs
- which are modal dialog boxes. (As soon as I figure out how to not
- close a DA which is already closed, I think I'll have this problem
- licked.)
-
- Notes:
- Please report ALL incompatibilities to me on CompuServe (71620,740).
- I can't fix'em if I don't know about them.
-
- If this App really puts enlightenment in your life, you can send
- me $5, but you don't have to. (It'll probably get you some kind of
- special consideration, but I don't know what yet.)
-
- This program must be distributed with its accompanying documentation
- and may not be bought or sold. Otherwise, go ahead and give it to
- anyone you want.
